Lucerne ranked 13th most attractive location

A regular study carried out by the Swiss banking institute Credit Suisse shows that Lucerne is currently ranked 13th, being an improvement of four places.

The study, entitled "Living and commuting: where is the least expensive place to live?" concluded that Uri was the most attractive canton, primarily due to its low tax rate, moderate health insurance and housing costs which are well below the nationwide average and good public transport links to cities such as Zug, Lucerne and Zurich where salaries are high. Uri has made considerable progress, having been ranked 11th in 2008.

Among the Central Swiss cantons, Obwalden came in fourth, Nidwalden ninth and Schwyz 11th.  Zug on the other hand slipped from 18th to 19th, making it the least attractive canton to live in as far as disposable income is concerned in Central Switzerland.
